DOVE: GIRLS ROOM

With Girls Room, I had the opportunity to conceptualize and creatively direct a 5-part, social-first, scripted drama in partnership with Dove and Lena Waithe. It came to life as a premium digital video series about the pain and power of female adolescence, using the unique setting of the girls bathroom as the story’s primary framing device.

The Dove Self-Esteem Project has conducted years of research to discover all the ways girls experience body image issues, and we based our episodes on these researched takeaways. During production, we coined the phrase “cinematically vertical” to describe the show’s combination of high-touch production with socially- optimized vertical dimensions.

Girls Room is the recipient of the 2020 Tribeca X Award for Best Series in the Tribeca Film Festival.
